“Dinner On Saturday Night Was At”

Seabra’s Marisqueira.

A Portuguese restaurant, located in the iron-bound section of Newark, NJ, they specialize in fresh seafood and great entrees on a daily basis. Their portions are astounding and their prices very reasonable.

As an appetizer, I had a fresh baby green salad, while my dinner companions chose the fried calamari, shrimp cocktails and buffalo wings.

For my main course, I chose the grilled Tilapia, mashed potatoes and fresh string beans, my companions choices were; the portuguese codfish grilled with potatoes, whole red snapper grilled in a butter lemon sauce and the grilled salmon with mashed potatoes and green beans. All entrees came with yellow rice and a mixed vegetable.

There are several portuguese restaurants located in Newark, NJ., so in the midst of your choices I definitely recommend Seabra’s Marisqueira…you won’t regret it.

Friday night’s dinner was at one of my favorite places Thai Chef restaurant

I love this place y’all!!!!

Located on Bloomfield Avenue in Montclair, NJ. I’ve blogged about this spot once before.

This is the restaurant that has a chocolate souffle that is simply to die for!!!!

Anyway, by the time we got to this restaurant on Friday, I was so hungry, I almost ordered everything on the menu.

I had a salad as an appetizer, then my girlfriends and I, shared the fried calamari.

As a main entree I had the grilled chilean sea bass and OMG!!!!! This fish is so soft and tender, you’d swear you were eating a piece of meat. No lie! My fish came with the sticky dirty rice, it was way beyond delicious.

As a side, I also had the pad-thai noodles with shrimp…that dish is off the hook!!!

My girlfriends all had the curry shrimp with fried plantains and the sticky dirty rice.

So, I’m open for your restaurant suggestions, if not; I can eat at this place almost every week. 🙂

All (food) pictures shown above are not the actual dish.

      2. @BigBelly, 3+1 equals 4. she don’t say but one (w/common sense) can assume there were 2 couples (which again =4) on Saturday night. lol.

      4. Why are you’s reading so much into the riddle of Tracy’s words???.

IMO she did it to see if ya’ll would figure the shit out.

Truth be told, the girl is *VERY MUCH SINGLE* therefore what she DOES or DOESN’t SAY is her business. It’s her choice.

But if her goal was to have you all guessing and talkin about it, then again she’s succeeded. That’s why I say, “she’s good at her craft”

        Carry on.

    1. @Olivijah, the chilean Sea Bass at this place is mouth watering. It’s a little expensive but it’s worth every bite. They prepare it steamed, baked or grilled, i believe. Romello’s business is not to far from here, so we’ll go now and then.

Wish we had known Trace was there on Friday tho. 🙂

  4. Newark, NJ has some of the best porteguese restaurants and they have been there for years. these places remain consistent even in a struggling economy.

There are many to chose from and I do like diversity, therefore i must check it out.

  7. “Thai Chef” is very worth every morsel that it is known for. their food is so OFF THE HOOK…It’s worth writing home about (trust me)….I tried this place the very first time Tracy blogged about it. the chocolate souffle., oh please!!! there is this whole performance when the waiters or waitresses bring this desert out. in fact that’s all everyone really goes there to dine for imo. is the chocolate souffle….they should have fire crackers attached to that becauz that is one well A-rated desert. this place is an a+a+++++ lol. no exaqgeration people.

  8. “So, I’m open for your restaurant suggestions”

Do you ever dine out of the tri-state area? Looks like the farthest you go is to NY?

    Like

    1. @UncleEd, that’s not true. I’m an avid reader here and Trace has dined even while in other states. but if she live in NJ why should she travel to other towns and states just for a meal??? now that to me is not necessary unless she’s getting paid to do so. NY is rather close to her I gather, so why not keep it nj and ny?

      1. I agree @ AP.
unless these restaurants are well worth the gas and the trip (meaning the food is to fuckin die for) I don’t see the point. imo. you’ll starve by the time you get there.

wonder if this is why we haven’t gotten any restaurant post lately because she’s been going to Thai Chef over and over and over again. 🙂

I had the ludacris and I like it alot and recommend it highly. The cornbread was good, the fried chicken wings were good and the collards were good! The atmosphere is not the best, but if you want good soul food then I say: try this place.
