“Crockett’s Fish Fry? Huge FAIL!!!!”

And this place is not all of that!!!!

For some time now, I’ve been told that I had to try Crokett’s Fish Fry, located on Bloomfield Avenue in Montclair, NJ. According to some of my email sources, family and friends, their fish was simply to die for!!

When I walked into this restaurant and take-out joint on Saturday, the warning signal for me which indicated something was wrong, was the strong smell of fresh bleach. The stench from the bleach overpowered any food aromas necessary to turn on my senses for an appetite.

The smell alone turned me off completely and I opted out of having a meal.

As my people placed their orders for fish, one of them noticed a small dead roach on the counter by the cash register. Of course they brought this to the cashier’s attention, who played it off as if it was nothing.

For those in my crew brave enough to eat what they ordered, they said, “their fish was bangin” a couple of others, said something different.

This establishment is a cash and carry only.

As for Crockett’s fish fry…No thank you!!!

I don’t even wanna eat lunch now. that’s just disgusting!!

although the rocah wasn’t in the food, the DEAD roach on the counter, hence the strong bleach smells = roaches in the house.

    Tra knew what was up.

    Thanks for the warning.

I noticed she didn’t end with “So if you’re ever in Montclair area check out Crocketts”

      1. Ah contrair CB, you might smell food in the restaurant and the kitchen might still be infested with roaches and rodents.

I bet a whole lotta people smelled coffee and doughnuts when they walked into a dunkin doughnuts but had no idea they were infested with rats and mice until they saw that shit on the news either.

We had our family reunion at this black college in the south. and they cooked all this soul food and the food looked good and smelled good, then while we were waiting to eat, I saw this roach climb up on the wall. UGH I was totally turned off and my family ate like there was no tomm.

      1. @Starr, doesn’t matter, a strong bleach smell would be a turn off for anyone about to get food from or eat at a restaurant. and the dead roach would just take the whole cake. i mean, i woulda left my order and erthing right at the counter and walked out.

    1. Ms. Ashanti, I did inform those that, we were going to wait in the car and that Tracy didn’t want anything. But by the time everyone else decided to follow suit, they had already placed orders and paid for their food. the smell was actually making Tracy sick!!!! I had to see what was up with her at the time.

I didn’t want to convince the crew not to order, hell smells and dead roaches don’t bother a lotta people so hey, they ate what they wanted. lol.

      1. @Daisy, no seriously by the time Tra shared what was up, some of them had their food already. you should of seen some of them throwing their food out after Tracy told them what she saw. Only one couple ate regardless. and hey more power to them. no shade.

Me, I don’t do take out joints. This was a last minute option at the suggestion of a friend. But I’m sure all take out joints are not like this one.
