Before Fantasia’s overdose I had seen reports of her on CNN about her affair. Can you tell me why CNN never mentioned Alicia Key’s affair? I mean, isn’t Alicia the bigger name? The more news worthy? Why is Nancy Grace covering Fantasia and hasn’t said anything about that whore Alicia Keys?
The national news media jumped all over the Fantasia Barrino story when the news broke that she was being sued by a woman who accused her of interfering in her marriage.
Pictures of Fantasia holding hands with the married man Antwaun Cook, were posted on urban blogs for months.
So Fantasia’s fans are wondering why mainstream media ignored singer Alicia Keys who committed the same crime as Fantasia when she crept with the then, married music producer Swizz Beatz.
What is it that attracted the media sharks to Fantasia’s story like blood in the water, but caused them to ignore Alicia Keys?
Is it because Alicia Keys music sells in record-breaking numbers? While Fantasia Barrino is just an American Idol winner in a lessor category.
I don’t get it either Kimmie, but it’s obvious the media is selective and that’s totally unfair!!

I think that AI has something to do with it, because Fantasia is one of the only contestants besides Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson to actually still have a career. The main reason is because Fantasia was asked in numerous interviews about her relationship with Antwaun and it was repeatedly denied…until now.

They already saw her in a negative light…….poor, illiterate, teen-mom, so this adulterous affair simply adds more fuel to their fire. Alicia had a wholesome girl-next-door image and was pretty, so of course Swizz’ wifey must have drove him to her in their eyes.
Keep your head up Tasia, you still have fans. You’re not the first woman to creep with a married man and you won’t be the last.

I agree. I also think that becasue the story AI fed to the masses of Tasia being the daughter of a preacher, raised in the church, etc., etc., added to the sensationalism of this situation. As if being from the projects, single teen mom, domestic abuse, , leeching family, foreclosures, wasn’t enough…now you toss in adultery, possible pregnancy, suicide and lawsuits. It’s like a blockbuster movie…except it’s her real life. 😦

For Tasia I think it’s a combination of AI, Fantasia’s history before winning, the denial of the relationship with Twuan but yet pics showing up everywhere. For AKeys and Tucan I think they tried to keep it on the low but when Mashonda made an arse of herself on Twitter everybody thought she was crazy and they didn’t find fault with Tucan when he left her for someone “better”. *shrug*

The sad things is this story will always be brought up by people. Even if she moved on or heal after this people we always remind you of the mistakes you made.
I guess every criminal doesn’t get caught so I assume it’s the same issue here…..no need to point others out who got away with it.
BTW: THE COURT DOCUMENTS ONLY SAY SHE IS SUING FOR ALIMONY AND CHILD SUPPORT…never does it say she was suing Fantasia

Good Points! It just bothers me that she didn’t think about her daughter. There are kids losing their parents to violence daily, but in this case, she CHOSE to take her own life.
When she was dating him, SHE WAS ABOUT IT so she should deal with the consequences of her actions. I WILL NEVER UNDERSTAND WOMEN WHO PUT THEIR MAN BEFORE THEIR CHILD(REN).

If the wife hadn’t of filed suit against Fantasia, then I believe the media would have left it alone…. now everyone wants to see how the whole thing is gonna play out and this thing is getting uglier by the minute. Mashonda just wrote an open letter, swallowed it, and moved on. Alicia Key is a mega superstar and sold way more records then Fantasia has. Had Mashonda went further and filed suit or contined to publicly fight Aicia, the media would have been all over it like white on rice.

Remember when Oprah caught backlash becuase Alicia was on her show and Oprah didn’t ask her about her affair with Swizzy. But she asked Reille- John Edwards mistress- about their affair. From what I notice, you have to do community service. Alicia has done more community service, ie. same as Angelina Jolie. Fantasia should have created a not-for-proft organization and did some work in Africa if she wanted a free pass to sleep with a married man!

i think american idol or not, fantasia is an urban artist and alicia keys is crossover. the people behind AK will spend money or do what they take to take care of their investment. unfortunately for fantasia, this isn’t the first bit of drama she has been mixed in (losing her house almost, the color purple play and missing so many shows, the booty shake video with kandi, the ridiculous colored hair in the past), etc.
I’m sure many appreciate her round the way down home demeanor, however, both being on J records I can guarantee the teams assigned to support both these ladies is completely different in size and significance.

Wellll….Alicia was at one time america’s sweetheart but fantasia was voted on by the american public to become the american idol which makes her well known because of the shows huge following. Due to the amount of reality shows and how popular they are in this day in age it shows that dispite the fact that she won does not mean she will have a fairytale ending. Due to her difficult childhood, teenage pragnacy, and abuse she endured it makes her story that much more interesting…Then she goes off and tries to kill herself…Then, and I’m quoting one of the panel members that was on Jane Valez last night, fantasia hooked up with a man that to some “is out of her league”…That’s why she is getting more coverage than alicia. To be honest Alicia and Swiss’ story is kinda boring plus Angelina and Brad already marked that territory lol!

Not to mention he had already had another child with another women while with Mashonda before she had her baby with him. She knew what the deal was and just tried to use Alicia to gain publicity.

I’m going out on a limb and say Tasia is getting all of this publicity now because Cooks wife filed a lawsuit naming her in it, which can be done in the state of North Carolina, and two, because its fresh. Blogs were raking Alicia Keys over the coals when it was first learned that she was the OTHER WOMAN, and had been before Beaks divorce was final, and they raked her over the coals still when it was learned that she was 5 months pregnant. Fantasia drew more attention when she took those aspirin. Mashonda didn’t sue Alicia Keys, but she spoke on it in the press. And now they are trying to throw a sex tape out on Fantasia as well. You know our media; the more ’sensational’ it is, the better. I hope Fantasia gets better, gets closer to God so that she can keep her head up knowing that she didn’t KNOWLINGLY go into a relationship with someone who was married. Say what you will, but some men pull this okey doke all of the time– use their boys house to say its theirs just to get up with a female and be as married as they can be.

Up until AK got preggers she was not admitting SHAT about Mr. Beats. She said notta nah word about his azz. He talked about HER…but she said nadda. It does appear that Alcia Keys had an easier ride but the truth of the matter is why would you get involved with anyone that still married whether or not they are in the divorce process. Some people change their minds and it doesn’t seem healthy to be in such relationship.
I pray for the sake of Alicia Keys’s unborn child that Swizz Beats does not do the same thing that he did to his wife to her.
As for Fantasia she states that Antwaun aka Mr cooks said he was no longer with his wife. I think that is not good enough. I am a Fantasia fan but I have to be honest. It is unfortunate that in these type of cases the woman gets it bad while the man does not gain much attention whether famous or unknown.
I feel Fantasia she should have known better. I mean I know love is great and makes people lose their mind but come on. You have a career, a child, you are in the spotlight. You have more to lose than the unknown partner.
