Bullied For Her Dark Skin & We’ll Talk About it on “Conversations Of A Sistah”

Kheris Rodgers

She Was Bullied For Her Dark Skin and had a tough time navigating through her elementary school years. The bullying effected her self-esteem so much so, that her mother transferred her to another school. She would cry a lot, and talk about how she doesn’t like her dark skin tone because of the comments other kids made about her in school. Well today, with the help of her older sister, she turned that negative in a positive and now she’s “Flexin in her Complexion“.

Kheris Rogers

Join me in the studio tonight at 6:30 p.m. EST on “Conversations Of A Sistah” for my conversation with little Miss Kheris Rogers about bullying, low self-esteem and how words are power. We will discuss how she turned this negative experience into a booming business and fashion statement.

The “Conversation link” in this post make it possible to access the show.

We hope to see you on the air!

  4. This is an interesting topic to discuss. I speak of my own experience with “colorism” on my blog, but I don’t talk about the impression it made on me as a dark skinned kid in west Africa with a light skinned mom. That dynamic made for an internal struggle with self acceptance. Thanks for bringing this topic up!

I’m impressed, for a 10 yr. old she handled that conversation well.
And when she said she hopes to inspire other kids being bullied, I was in awe.
I really enjoyed listening to her and her older sister. It was just the sweetest show. Tracy your enthusiasm is so sincere. Awesome how you supported her and said you wanted to give her a platform to tell her story. I just wish you would’ve asked was it black kids or white kids bullying her? O_o

This is true but if the kids she were bullied by were black kids that would further prove their parents have slave mentalities, which a lot of black folk do O_o which I also think is sad 😥
