Bishop Eddie Long has lost his battle with cancer, a New Birth Baptist Church spokesperson confirmed in a statement on Sunday. He was 63.

The church released a statement on Sunday, saying Mr. Long waged a “gallant private fight with an aggressive form of cancer.”.

The controversial preacher was the subject of many rampant rumors in his final months. He reportedly suffered from an aggressive form of duodenal adenocarcinoma (cancer of the small intestine), according to a church insider.

Duodenal adenocarcinoma is rare and deadly because it is often caught too late and spreads rapidly. The prognosis for this form of cancer is poor.

Since the tumor is located at the beginning of the small intestine, it sometimes blocks food from entering the intestine from the stomach.

Long is survived by his wife, Vanessa Long, his four children and three grandchildren.

  7. I am praying and mourning for his victims. -the poor; dysfunctional/fatherless boys that he supposedly groomed as sons until they reached the age of 17/18 and had to pay back it via using their bodies for pleasure. smh

    I am praying that may his victims eventually heal and find peace in knowing that their is a GOD who heard their cry even when Black church folks shunned them for telling their truths.

    1. Thats why sexual abuse in churches are so rampant. It seems like some people just want to ignore it and hope it goes away. But in doing that, the victims feel like they are being abused again because they want them to remain silent…

      1. Real Saints of a Holy God would be outrage and protective of the victim who were abused by a grown man. Only a minion would side with the evil-doers because birds of a feather….are people alike. That’s how you find out who or what someone is really all about behind those robes and church hats. lol

      2. Lots of truth in that right there… But I know for a fact that lots of church folks and pastors here in Atlanta did denounce him. And a good 80% of his members walked away from his church.

        Still, it was sad to see so many people sticking up for him and calling his accusers liars. Shame on all of them.

  11. Having an opinion is not judging. Quoting the scriptures is not judging. It is what it is. Judging is just another PC words trying to manipulate or silence people from expressing their thoughts. That is the same sick PC that backfired on liberals. -because folks learned to deceive and manipulate or tell the pollers one thing to avoid an argument, while secretly voting with their true voice and thoughts.

    The hypocrisy: I don’t see the same people ‘against judging’ lining up at the courthouses and justice department boycotting the judges, jurors and lawyers claiming you have no right to judge…only God can judge.

    -in fact, those same people turn to judges to have their fellow opponent judged in lawsuits or a filing. The truth is everybody judges. However, not everyone lives a deceitful; hellish life that creates secret messes that harms others. Not everyone ignores the real victim (young boys groomed to one day be molested or raped), but mourn the predator. What a backwards way of thinking! Let us all pray that his victims someday find healing and peace. There is no difference btw him and the Sandust-kies of the world. ijs

  13. These very rare form of cancers are usually suffered by men with full blown AIDS and even HIV. Intestinal cancers can definitely cause rapid weight loss. We’ll see how it turns out but if it’s AIDS we’ll never find out and his wife will make sure of that O_o

  14. It could very well have been cancer, but we all know he was running up in those boys without protection. If he did have HIV, he likely wasn’t having it treated due to word of it possibly getting out. Watch them never release an official cause of death. That’s why you shouldn’t do sneaky, nasty underhanded shyt. My condolences to his wife for having to deal with his bufoonery for so long.

    1. If he was a top, as you say, then he would be less likely to contract HIV than a bottom would. I don’t think he had AIDS.

      1. Except he was messing with nearly a dozen different people. If he had cancer, he would’ve just came out and said it. He didn’t want to lie about it because he knew his time was approaching. Regardless of what it was, I have no sympathy for false prophets.

      2. Working private duty hospice I saw AIDS and I saw cancer patients. Wasting can happen to both at the end…the truth is no one but his doctors or family will ever know…unless his lovers and victims come out saying they have the virus.

        Is not AIDs a form of blood-cancer? “Lookup AIDs related Cancers.” There is a list of them. -most HIV/AIDs patients can now save face by writing cause of death pneumonia or cancer. Because in the end, the immune system is so deficient in white blood cells that it can no longer fight off viruses and other diseases in the bottom which allows cancers, colds/pneumonia and other bacteria to run amuck and thrive.

      4. You will never see that word in the US as a cause of death anymore. People can now hide behind the word pneumonia or some type of cancer knowing that AIDs which is a Blood-Cancer affect different areas of the body. -it helps the patient and family to simply focus on cancer caused by the real culprit. However, some doctors and nurses along the way KNOW THE REAL TRUTH

  20. The post definitely doesn’t say anything about AIDS. Everybody knew something was wrong with him and we all assumed is was AIDS and not no healthy Eating as he tried to say at first. To hear that it was cancer makes a lot of sense and clears up everything. It’s the reason for the hair loss, and muscle and weight loss. A lot of people say physical appearance change when they’re going through treatment, because it’s some pretty strong meds.

  31. I’m sure more things will surface now that he’s transitioned. I’m just praying for whomever is affected by this death comfort, forgiveness, and that his family finds tremendous strength in the midst of the storm.
