New Movie Release, Tyler Perry

Have you seen, Tyler Perry’s “BOO” A Madea Halloween?

maxresdefaultUnlike his previous movies that began as stage plays, “BOO” a Madea Halloween didn’t originate as a hit stage play. The idea started as a joke in Chris Rock’s hilarious “Top Five,” where the latest Tyler Perry production has Madea fighting off ghosts. Despite the mockery, Perry liked the concept and shot this movie in 6 days.

The movie opened Thursday night and it’s message is clearly for parents and disrespectful teens.

The plot thickens with Madea (Tyler Perry) trying to keep her great niece Tiffany (Diamond White) from attending a Halloween party at the lamest fraternity I have ever seen. When things go horribly awry for the frat, they plot a Halloween-themed vengeance on Madea and her cohorts Aunt Bam (Cassie Davis), Hattie (Patrice Lovely) and Joe (Tyler Perry).

Madea’s nephew Brian (Tyler Perry, again) summons her to his house to keep an eye on his daughter while he’s out of town. He fears she will disobey his orders and attend the frat party. Brian is a doormat whom Tiffany disrespects in ways that would never fly in a Madea-run household. Tiffany’s behavior becomes the basis for the typical whiplash-inducing dramatic change in tone for which Perry’s films are notorious. Before we get there, however, we have to deal with the party, the pranks and the constant bickering between Madea and her crew.

At 103 minutes, this film has way too much dead weight. Scenes are repeated over and over, and some of the acting would not cut it in a school play. But in the rare moments when “Tyler Perry’s Boo! A Madea Halloween” is firing on all cylinders, it displays a cleverness which hints that, with more time and a few more iterations of the script, this might have been a good movie.

I laughed until I cried however, Mr. Tyler Perry could’ve done a little better.

      1. Birth of a nation is a great movie….question…what real man goes to a movie theater to see another man in drag? So if Trace wasn’t alone, she must’ve of been with a girlfriend.

      5. I don’t know why, but the only one that threw me for a loop was Ving Rhames in “Holiday Heart”…never expected it. I can’t even look at him the same anymore..

      6. yeah holiday heart it was actually a good movie. He played a cross dresser who had to take care of this chick’s daughter cause chick was on drugs and not about shitt or something like that if I can remember properly. He wasn’t with another dude or anything. I got caught up in the storyline that I forgot it was him playing the part. It was really more about the kid than him and his lifestyle.

      1. Congrats Tyler Perry, Tom Cruise pulled out all the stops. He was even doing his Risky Buisness dance on Late Night with James Cordon and Mission Impossible to get people to the box office but in the end TP won. I am so happy for him.

  1. I’m not a total Tyler Perry fan but, I don’t knock his success and most of his stuff is entertaining in light of all this craziness in the world. Congrats on that big win! I think I would want to punch him if I knew him personally so, I’ll continue just being entertained by him on TV…. through the comedy and keep rolling my eyes at the stereotypes he plays around with.

  2. Always loved and respected Tyler Perry. He never complains about what Hollywood isn’t giving him or about lack or roles or scripts. He just took Hollywood by storm on his own terms. I admire self-reliance.

  3. I’m so proud of Tyler Perry and all of his accomplishments, ESPECIALLY since he was not born with a silver spoon in his mouth yet he made it through many struggles to come out on top.

I love Tyler, hope to work with him someday. Oh, I saw the film and it was HILARIOUS!

  4. Black people broke their necks to go see this bad acting, hot ghetto mess, but would not support Birth of Nation! No wonder we are so lost as a people! BTW, I went to see both, however after watching Perry’s movie for 15 minutes I got up and went and requested a refund, IT WAS HORRIBLE! I like Tyler, but the movie sucked!!

      1. Congrats Tyler but in RE to Birth of a nation I think the rape case is what put some people off from seeing it. People have that right to support what they want I’ve read the book on Nat Turner so I’m good.
Support what you want some have automatically turned on Nate while others support him and then Surviving Compton came out and Dre lost some of his fan base so it is what it is.

  5. TP stay winning…bought an army base and a 1000 acres in Douglas County where he says he’s going to hire black farmers and farm his own damn food and have his private chef prepare it….must be nice….get that paper…

  7. Go and watch the movie. It’s full of Madea’s shenanigans with a couple of surprises. I shouted a of couple times.
We need more laughter in this world.

  8. The media wanted the rape allegations to get in the way so blacks wouldn’t go see Birth of a Nation. This man has played in many movies and tv dramas and nothing has never been said about these rape allegations UNTIL he does a move about a black man planning a revolt and killing white people. You got to think past the hype the media puts out there and think on the REAL reason all of this has come out now. They don’t want black people to realize it’s more of us than them and we can come together and make a REAL change.
