Gunmen Seize Federal Building In Oregon

Oregon StandoffA group of gunmen seized control of an empty federal building in remote Burns, Oregon, on Saturday and announced how they plan to occupy the facility for “years”. They then called for “patriots” to join them — and bring more guns.

What the hell is this about? And why have they NOT been arrested or ceased?

These gunmen include, the two sons of Cliven Bundy, the rancher whose legal battle with the government over grazing rights culminated in an armed standoff with federal authorities near Bunkerville, Nevada, in 2014.

In a statement they tweeted:

“We’re planning on staying here for several years,” Ammon Bundy said in a video posted to Facebook Saturday. “We’re calling people to come out here and stand…. We have a place for you to stay warm. We have food planned and prepared. We need you to bring your arms. And we need you to come to the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge.” His brother Ryan Bundy told The Oregonian’s Ian Kullgren the militiamen are “willing to kill and be killed if necessary” 

The Bundy’s and other militia members have gathered in Burns in recent weeks to protest the return to prison of Dwight Hammond Jr. and his son Steven, two local ranchers who were convicted in 2012 of arson, imprisoned, released and given new, harsher sentences last year. But there’s no evidence the Hammonds are involved in the occupation of the federal building, and they told The Oregonian through their attorneys on Sunday that they plan to return to prison on Monday as ordered.

This story is outrageous because we haven’t heard how local, state, and federal authorities are responding? So far, it looks as if law enforcement officials are steering clear of the mayhem.

A U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service spokesperson told CNN that federal officials, including the Bureau of Land Management, are monitoring the situation.

  9. They actually broke into the Federal Building!!!! They are armed and just waiting for the police to approach, practically begging them so they can have a shootout, SMH.

    I knew when his father, the Welfare Rancher got away with stealing, they would try something else.

    If they were black, the National Guard, Swat etc…. would’ve already been in and shot everyone in sight, SMH.

  10. They said they (the ranchers) were going to turn theirselves in today. They were accused of arson. But the government was trying to take their land (per usual). But still, they try to take away our rights to do something as simple as driving down the street and we’re shot on sight.

    Terrorist kill Sandra Bland put her dead body on display nothing happens. Terrorist kill a 12 year old boy in broad day light nothing happens. Yet some terrorist take over a government building ( didn’t the black panthers do the same things only to get killed and infiltrated? ) and they get treated like HUE-mans? WTF??

    I feel like they’re taunting us waiting for us to strike back. To be honest I don’t think black folks can take much more before we go off. It’s been out of hand but now I feel like they’re just doing it for sport.

  14. They forced public land, seized a federal building at gunpoint, and no doubt threatened people with those guns as they did at buddy ranch. Since when does the law wait until someone gets shot to arrest thugs and criminals?

  17. The building was not occupied during the holidays. They are squatters at this point, but also are calling for other “militia groups” to join them. I do believe they are outgunned if that is what they have in mind. Looks to me like a home-bred ISIS group, as they beg for others to join them. Smh

But these folks are mad because some ranchers are going to prison for illegally slaughtering deer on federal land then setting the crime scene on fire. WTF? This makes absolutely NO SENSE!

  22. Two crucial details are not clear here: Did people enter the building unlawfully, and if so, who are the people at the site? Are they armed or aren’t they? This determines the legality around their actions.

    3. Let me help y’all out – the building was closed for the holidays. There are pictures of them with guns. You cannot have a campfire in a federal park unless you have a permit – most parks ban them completely. They claim to have 150 people with them………………………………..

  25. It’s an empty building. Out in a wildlife refuge. It doesn’t disrupt the government or anybody else’s business for them to be there. Let them stay there as long as they want — and, just ignore them. That’s all.
