Legendary comedienne Joan Rivers died on Thursday — exactly a week after she was rushed to a Manhattan hospital when she stopped breathing during a routine throat procedure.
She was 81.
Rivers’ daughter, Melissa, had been keeping vigil by her mother’s bedside at Mount Sinai Hospital as her condition failed to improve since she went into cardiac arrest on Aug. 28 at Yorkville Endoscopy.
She was moved from the intensive care unit to a private room on Wednesday.
The State Health Department has launched an investigation into the clinic where Joan had the minor surgery.

She was moved from ICU because they couldn’t do anything else for her. The family had her made up and had her room decorated so family and friends could pay their last respects.

@Wanda……..these upper east/west side boutique clinics are high post but a endoscopy is not a surgery. I had one a few months ago. :shrugs: all they do is look inside your stomach. Joan was just old and probably had all sorts of scar tissue from prior procedures.

celebs (and rich ppl) go to these types of places for most procedures to maintain anonymity but trust me, they are set up like a hospital inside with doctors and nurses and purell and everything. :yes: however, an endoscopy is an outpatient procedure. its putting a camera down your throat to look at your belly.
death is inevitable and not necessarily a bad thing, a consipiracy, or due to somebody’s malice. she was 81 and lived better than most of us put together. :shrugs:
hell, her face was already embalmed anyway. she was ret to go.

This kinda stuff is crazy. Girl at my church… not even 40… went in for a colonoscopy (and something else real simple) early this year and never woke up. Tore everybody’s hearts to pieces.
