The Gifts of a poet? Tonight on “Conversations Of A Sistah”

What is a poet? We know what the common answer to that question would be: A poet is a person who writes poetry. However, a poet’s work can be literal, meaning that his/and or her work is derived from a specific event, or metaphorical, meaning that his/or her work can take on many different meanings and forms.

Poets exist in nearly every language and have produced works that vary greatly in different cultures and different times. Poets have used various styles that have changed through the course of literary history, resulting in a history of poets as diverse as the literature they have produced. Some poets write poetry for pleasure or as an occupation.

Poetry can be written in many forms, even from the poet’s imagination however, a genuine poet will write from experience and feelings which altars the soul.

April is National Poetry month, so join me tonight at 8:00 PM on “Conversations Of A Sistah” via “Conversations Live” as we explore some great poets of our time.

And if you would like to share your poetry on the air, here’s your chance…call the show at 1-347-426-3645 and press “1” to speak with me the host…

See you on the air, if you dare to share!

Most joyful let the Poet be;
It is through him that all men see.

        You should really LISTEN to the show again. She said “She had one thing planned in a topic and God took her in a whole nother direction, based upon 1 question” Then she told us how HE/GOD answered that question in the riddle of the song “Blessed Assurance”. Smh 😦

        When the relationship is personal there’s no need for such a question as this

  1. Loved Blessed assurance the hymn is beautiful. Anyone who’s ever been a part of a church knows this hymn. I like how God directed Tracy to talk about the blind woman that was simply unbelievable.

  2. Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine!
    O what a foretaste of glory divine!
    Heir of salvation, purchase of God,
    Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood.

    Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine!

    This is my story, this is my song,
    Praising my Savior all the day long;
    This is my story, this is my song,
    Praising my Savior all the day long.

    Perfect submission, perfect delight!
    Visions of rapture now burst on my sight;
    Angels descending bring from above
    Echoes of mercy, whispers of love.

    Perfect submission, all is at rest!
    I in my Savior am happy and blest,
    Watching and waiting, looking above,
    Filled with His goodness, lost in His love.

    This is my story, this is my song,
    Praising my Savior all the day long;
    This is my story, this is my song,
    Praising my Savior all the day long.

        Why would COLOR matter? Fran Crosby was a white woman and she wrote it, so your point is?

  3. Great topic.
    And for those blessed with a gift or ‘THE GIFT’ I pray you took heed and got one thing out of it if nothing else. “God will anoint the gift!” Tis all.
