All hope were lost and all fears realized when the NY Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the found body parts on the beach in College Point — including arms, legs and a lower torso — are that of the autistic 14-year-old.

After months of searching and full media coverage, DNA testing has confirmed the remains belong to the autistic boy, who was last seen on Oct. 4 leaving the Riverview School in Long Island City along the East River waterfront.

The family will be filing a wrongful death suit and rightfully so since no one can understand that out of 13 students with three teachers, how one could get away. A school is the last place a parent would expect to lose a child.

  1. This poor mother conducted one of the most intense searches that I have seen for her son. I hope she will be able to get the peace that she deserves. My heart is broken.

  11. Poor baby. I can only imagine the fear that he felt. I know it’s not the ending that the family was hoping for, but at least the mom doesn’t have to wonder where her child is. Now the healing can begin.

        The East River is also known as “Hell Gate”. The currents are really strong, there is a lot of boat traffic, and lots of sharp jagged rocks around the perimeter.

        I’m starting to think there wasn’t any foul play. Water does extreme damage to bodies. The blades from a boat could have tore up the body, or it could have been slammed against the rocks repeatedly. Whatever the case, I hope our city is making his DNA matching a priority to give his mom some closure 😥

      Tracy just said in the post the family is going to sue the school for him being unsupervised and able to walk out of the school without anyone noticing. His parent or parents were not notified until later on that day.

      3. Okay for those who don’t know (b/c it happened in NYC or just cuz) The boy was allowed to run right out the damn front door! There is video of him running out. A stupid school safety officer called out to him “hey come back” but he didn’t. School saftey made no other efforts to stop him from leaving. THAT is whay the parents are suing. He attend a school for kids with Special Needs, so the staff knows better 😦

  24. In a perfect world a child would go missing and family be alerted within 10 minutes, but I’m sure that it takes that long for teacher to get settled and take attendance.

  38. They say they think that he ws running from dogs and fell in the water. 😥 sad> I read that he was petrified of dogs and water. They are also saying that they expect no foul play but the mom has said that the clothes that were found matched except the underwear. They said they were the wrong brand and size. which is weird.
