Conversations Of A Sistah return tonight with this topic: “When people won’t admit, how they can’t commit”

black-couple-shhh-200x300

It might be a New Year but people are dealing with the same issues and one is commitment or the lack thereof.

Why do men and women marry only to have another someone on the side? Do their relationship excitements expire and they look for a zest outside of their marriages in addition to their perspective spouses? Why do men and women marry then cheat?

And I know this is not in all situations but in some cases it’s a grim reality. If you cheat during your courtship you’re likely to cheat in your marriage. Women are just as susceptible to this type of behavior as men. It’s as if, some people have a sickness and an inability to commit.

So is it true, that men want their bride plus someone else on the side? And that some women prefer their groom and another man in the room? What is this sickness and inability to be fully committed in a relationship or marriage?

“When people won’t admit, how they can’t commit”… I’m exploring this topic and discussing this issue tonight as “Conversations Of A Sistah” return on “Conversations Live” at 8:00 P.M. I will also be taking your phone calls and entertaining your opinions at 1 (347) 426-3645 use option “1′ to speak with the host!

  1. I’m glad you didn’t make this a one sided issue Ms. Bell because it’s an issue with men and women

Women tend to cheat on husbands who are abusive, whether it is verbal or physical. If women are unhappy with abusive marriages, it is not unnatural for them to be on the lookout for ways out

I think it’s because they possibly never bonded with anyone since birth; or maybe they have trust issues after a bad relationship. It could be a defense mechanism they aren’t even aware of. It’s hard to pinpoint.

This is what I mean, the women here will see you as a bad person because the right thing to do in this society is to find that one special person and commit. I just said it down stairs.

  10. I thank God I’m not married……Yet but having been hurt in the past is a big reason for some people. Also, some people, especially guys I think, just want to play the field, they have no interest in settling into a committed relationship until they grow up a bit!

    Like

  11. Because it is not natural too commit. We humans are supposed to have multiple partners. Its time people realize that.

Because, deep down, they know they’re not eqipped to do it, whether it’s emotionally, mentally, financially, or whatever. Even those who think they’re ready and say they’re committed are often only fooling themselves, and go on to fail in the relationship because they weren’t really prepared for it at all. It’s takes a whole lot of maturity and being very grounded within yourself to be able to commit to someone else fully. Most people learn that the hard way. I was one of them!

  14. Here are a few reasons why Single people don’t commit
    1) scared,
    2)pressure from friends
    3) not enough money to live off of or a good job
    4) they can’t stop partying ,,,,

When you’re married there’s just no excuse.

  15. My problem is that I can’t commit long term to romantic relationships. This commitment phobia automatically colors me as a bad person because the right thing to do in this society is to find that one special person and commit to them for the rest of your life. (ideally) but it’s not for me, not right now anyway.

  16. In every relationship I’ve ever been in I’ve been the one to do the dumping. I’ve never had my heart broken. In one relationship a guy cheated on me and I found myself not caring.

I do form romantic bonds and attachments towards other people, but after a period of time the feelings of romance and passion evaporate.

I recently came out of a 3.5 year relationship with a guy I had a really strong bond with. We connected on a deep personal level and had a great friendship in addition to a great relationship. Yet when he started talking about marriage and more serious commitment I began to experience a high amount of anxiety and depression. It was as if I had been placed into a box with no horizon or freedom in sight.

I ended up breaking up with the guy, and now he won’t even talk/be friends with me. I gotta hear this show but send Tracy my email in the meantime.

  17. I don’t know if Trace mean “commit” you mean “marry”, there’s the simple fact that marriage is a very binding and possibly highly punitive contract that has little to do with love. Only love-blind, pressurized or cold-reasoning will people marry.

  18. Sometimes a man starts a relationship with a positive attitude. Things are going great, and life could not be better. However, all relationships face low points; men do not like to commit after they realize it is not what they wanted or expected. They might regret having a relationship with someone. It could also be that they have found someone else they like more. And so, the circle of commitment or NON commitment continues….

  19. From the post it sounds like Tracy is talking about married people still unable to commit. And Although the stereotype is that in marriages, men tend to be the ones to cheat first, that isn’t always true. Women are unfaithful in marriages for a large variety of reasons.

  23. Recent studies reveal that 45-55% of married women and 50-60% of married men engage in cheated on their spouse at some time or another during their relationship. What these findings suggest is that approximately one half of all married men and women do seek intimacy outside of their committed relationships. That’s scary.

  25. it’s important to know your partner’s history before entering into any long term relationship. Why did there previous relationships end? If cheating was the reason, consider the warning right there. can’t wait to hear the show thou.

  26. Don’t you hate having a person run around on you? I know I do because it happened. I caught my significant other with plenty of evidence. They showed all the signs of cheater, and I raised to recognize that if it smells like it, looks like it, it more than likely is… My friends would tell me that they saw her walking with random people all the time. Mind you she was not being very lady like.

So I got tired of it. My first mistake was confronting her with little to no evidence. She suddenly took the offense and made me feel guilty for even asking her what she had been doing. This led her to realize that I had suspected her of running around. She would rub it in my face constantly to bring forth more guilt.

My second mistake was thinking that we had something special. I didn’t even realize how special this relationship had become. I fell for a cheater. I was hurt but I got rid of her ass.

  28. It’s real simple people. For those of you married or in a committed relationship.

    1) Do not trust that your relationship is special!

    2) Never confront your spouse without hard evidence!

    3) Do not be afraid of the consequences with whateva you find out!
