  1. Rest In Peace. I remember hearing sometime back that Chris Kelly had medical issues. I wonder if this was the cause.
    Wow, my childhood memories.
Also, I just saw a recent picture of him at a party two months ago.
Thank you for the memories Chris!

  3. Going by the stage name Mac Daddy (with Smith known as Daddy Mac), the pair was known for wearing their clothes backward during performances.

Rapper Da Brat was shocked by Kelly’s death. She had performed at a 20th anniversary party for producer Jermaine Dupri’s So So Def label in February where Kris Kross reunited for one night.

“REST IN PEACE TO MY LIL BRO CHRIS KELLY OF KRIS KROSS. Dam wasn’t we JUST at rehearsal and doin a So So Def20 show?,” she wrote.

No not you Mr. Perry 😦 I’m so hurt having heard this news. They are such a big part of my younger years. I remember wearing my sweaters backwards with my skirts when Kriss Kross started the backwards clothes wearing trend. It hurts me so knowing this boy passed away so soon.

  5. This young man made a significant impact to the hip hop culture. Anyone who grew up in the 90s was impacted by their hit song and probably dressed their clothes like them at school.

Can we give a brother some respect? I for one am truly sad by this news. I really wish it wasn’t real.

  6. CNN is reporting he died of a drug overdose.

Kelly’s death is being investigated as a drug overdose, Fulton County police Cpl. Kay Lester told The AJC. An autopsy is planned for Thursday morning to determine the official cause of death.

      1. RIP Chris!
Those little boys were bad when they were out. So tragic if it was drugs. I said if since the cause of death is just speculation until the autopsy tells otherwise. People want to assume drugs right out the gate. Every body is not doing drugs!

      5. According to the Daily News

ATLANTA — Chris Kelly, half of the 1990s kid rap duo Kris Kross who made one of the decade’s most memorable songs with the frenetic “Jump,” died at an Atlanta hospital on Wednesday of an apparent drug overdose at his home, authorities said. He was 34.

“It appears it may have been a possible drug overdose,” said Cpl. Kay Lester, a spokeswoman for the Fulton County police.

This, Lester said, is based on statements received at the scene as well as evidence turned up at Kelly’s home in south Atlanta.

  7. It seems like after the deaths of Amy Winehouse and Whitney Houston, along with countless others stemming all the way back from the 70′s, our youth (and young adults for that matter) still seem to fall prey to the lure of drugs. Why are so many continue to drug themselves to an early grave?

  16. R.I.P. Chris. TLC had me wearing Cross Colors and Kris Kross had me sporting it backwards. Favorite songs by Kris Kross were “Jump,” “Live and Die For Hip Hop,” “I Missed The Bus,” & “Da Bomb.” So glad that they introduced Da Brat to the world on their song, “Da Bomb.”
