Jill Scott Says: It’s Hard Being a Single Mom

Jill_Scott

In the new issue of Ebony Magazine Jill Scott says raising a child alone is
nearly impossible…a man child especially.

That I-can-do-it-by-myself mentality is a lie. I’m sorry if I hurt anybody’s feelings, but you cannot do it all by yourself. You need a village: some aunties, grandmoms, friends. I couldn’t do this by myself and would be a fool to think I could.”

And on raising a boy

“It’s challenging being a single mom … No matter what I do, I’ll never be a man. Ever. I can show Jett how to be a thinker, how to enjoy music or how to feel, and to conquer. But I cannot show him how to be a man.”

  2. I never understood why her marriage broke up in the first place. That was the man for her. You finish that marriage to take up with the drummer who broke up with her leaving her to raise this child alone. I don’t get it. SOME women, NOT ALL, but SOME women can’t recognize when they have a MAN standing in front of them, yet go for the BOY playin games.

  3. No offense Jill but you a single mom cause you were tricked. As soon as you dumped your husband for the drummer you saw shit through real eyes. Now you see.

  4. And that’s the double truth….Ruth!!!

No one in their right minds wants to handle motherhood by themselves, unless they have to. Then you have no choice. But I thank God I don’t have to deal with that.
