LAPD Confirm Cop Killer Died in Cabin Fire

The biggest manhunt in Southern California history ended in a blaze of glory Tuesday night — just as Christopher Dorner had predicted in his online manifesto.

Dorner, 33, went on a shooting rampage to seek revenge for what he believed was his wrongful termination from the LAPD in 2008. On Monday Dorner was officially charged (in absentia) with the deaths of 2 LAPD officers and the attempted murders of 2 other officers.

After eluding a joint task force of law enforcement officers across California for a week, Dorner was spotted by a state Fish and Wildlife officer as he drove a stolen truck near Big Bear, California Tuesday. Dorner and the officer exchanged gunfire and Dorner crashed the pickup truck.

The former Navy veteran then abandoned the stolen truck and ran into the nearby woods. He took refuge in an empty rental cabin which was quickly surrounded by San Bernardino officers. A fierce gun battle erupted and two San Bernardino County officers were hit as Dorner attempted to escape out of the back of the cabin.

One officer later died of his injuries and a 2nd officer was in surgery but expected to survive. SWAT officers returned fire and lobbed tear gas canisters into the wooden structure, pushing Dorner back inside.

According to a law enforcement source, police had broken down windows, fired tear gas into the cabin and blasted over a loud-speaker urging Dorner to surrender. When they got no response, police deployed a vehicle to rip down the walls of the cabin “one by one, like peeling an onion,” a law enforcement official said.

By the time they got to the last wall, authorities heard a single gunshot, the source said. Then flames began to spread through the structure, and gunshots, probably set off by the fire, were heard.

LAPD officials confirmed Dorner’s charred body was pulled out of the burned cabin tonight, a source told the LA Times.

Police suspect Dorner shot himself when he was cornered and trapped inside the cabin. It isn’t clear if the tear gas canisters ignited the flames that totally consumed the cabin, or if Dorner set the fire himself.

Dorner was fired from the LAPD in 2008 for making false statements about another LAPD officer.

In his angry 11-page manifesto posted to Facebook, Dorner named targets within the LAPD and he promised to use “every bit of small arms training, demolition, ordnance and survival training I’ve been given” to bring “warfare” to LAPD officers and their families.

At the peak of the intense manhunt for Dorner, officials had placed 50 LAPD officers and their families under police protection.

Among Dorner’s first victims were the daughter of a former LAPD captain and her fiance, who were shot to death as they sat in their car near their home Sunday night.

  9. I knew he would die rather than face charges. I really thought that the LAPD would kill him rather than he kill himself. That’s still someone’s child. I hope he asked for forgiveness. If he did indeed commit suicide, then we know where he is right now.

  10. Shit happened 5 years ago (2008) and this nigga waited 5 years later to get revenge? WTF ??? did he just realize his ass was fired. He had plenty of time to fight his case. All of that killing and for what? Vindicate yaself, get ya job back or get that money but kill people and then take ya own life in the end? Makes no Dayum sense. So fucked up.

For a man to really do all of this and end up dead…but the question is really why?….it really must have been a strong feeling for him to kill an inocent women and her boyfriend…it was not madness…this was well planned and it was brewing for a long time…something happen at the police station during his firing for him to go out like this….

  14. The LAPD wants to control the flow of info which is why they’re now saying they don’t have his body and can’t confirm he’s dead. He is though and they know it. I do believe he died via a bullet and not the fire. But they intentionally allowed that cabin to completely burn. It was over an hour before they allowed firemen to put out the blaze.

    Its a hell of a strategy…

    1. Officials haven’t said how the blaze began, but audio heard during a live broadcast on CBS affiliate KCAL-TV in Los Angeles suggests police at the scene were going to force Dorner from the cabin, according to reports.

      Police were purportedly speaking over a scanner and referred to deploying “burners.”

      “We’re going to burn him out,” a voice is heard saying, and, “Burn this motherf—-r!”

  33. Well we knew he wasn’t getting through this alive. There was going to be no jail time for ole boy. After he killed that cop yesterday hubby and I deduced that law enforcement would care if news crews were filming and he came out buck naked with his hands in the air. They were going to open fire on his crazy azz.

  34. I believe the police found dorner and killed him days ago. They staged that shoot out and placed his body in that house and set it on fire. No witnesses and no evidence.

    Isn’t it funny that a house in the WOODS caught fire and there wasn’t a fire truck to be seen? Do you know how paranoid officials in California are of fires?

    Isn’t it funny how a house that is not regularly inhabited just happened to have the brush around it cleared prior to the fire?

    I’m calling BS on this story. I don’t condone Dorners tactics of killing innocent people to get attention for his story. But I hate it hate it when the authorities play us for fools.

    They staged the whole thing because they were afraid we’d go all 1992 on them on. This time they ain’t gonna burn down the hood.

  47. THIS MAN WAS TELLING THE TRUTH…I have never seen any Police Department put a million dollar bounty on a US citizen. And I have never seen them shoot up a car without a positive ID. This man knew some serious LAPD stuff and they were never going to let him tell his story. I look at police a lot differently now. The fact that the LAPD still have the Rodney King officers still employed and in high up positions says a lot.
