15-year-old girl who performed at Obama’s Inauguration shot and killed in Chicago

Hidaya_Pendleton_ripA 15-year-old girl who performed with her high school band for President Obama at his 2nd Inauguration last week was shot and killed in the Kenwood area of Chicago Tuesday.

Hidaya Pendleton died just blocks from the high school she attended. The teenager was an honor student, a well-liked volleyball player, and majorette.

Pendleton was among a group of 10 to 12 teenagers seeking shelter from the rain under a canopy in a park on the 4500 block of South Oakenwald Avenue around 2:30 p.m., when a gunman jumped a fence, and opened fire on the teens.

Pendleton was shot once in the back. She was pronounced dead at the University of Chicago Comer Children’s Hospital. Another boy was hit in the leg. He was also taken to Comer Children’s Hospital. He is expected to recover from his injuries.

Police said Pendleton had no gang affiliations, but several of the teens she was with were believed to be known gang members.

It’s a shame; President Obama shed tears for the 20 children who died at Sandy Hook, but he has no tears to shed for the hundreds of black children who were gunned down in his own backyard since he’s been president.

    1. This is a black child….it will be business as usual.

Exactly. Can you imagine the outpouring of grief from the Oval office if a white girl was gunned down after performing for President Obama?

      3. I personally don’t care if Obama addresses gun violence or not because whether you all like it or not, the violence will never end.

Furthermore, there are certain things that are generational and certain things should start with the parents so that kids and adults don’t end up shooting people for what most like to say “no reason at all”. And if they still end up shooting folk then that means there is something psychologically wrong with the child and THAT should be addressed. Its alot deeper than what people think. Agree with me if you want or don’t…i dont care really

  6. I want yall to write this down. Take a picture. Memorialize it anyway you need to…

    But I agree with Tracy.

It has already been stated in at least 10 DIFFERENT stories I have read that Chi is WELL on pace to surpass the number of killings it had in 2012…And it’s the 30th day of the year. He hasn’t said not a word about it. About the city he was elected out of.

If it were Little Rock would President Clinton have said something? 😦
If it were Houston would the President Bushes have said something? 😦

SO let me get this STRAIGHT OBAMA is/was from CHICAGO, his bestie is the MAYOR of the city and to my KNOWLEDGE so far the President has yet to address this issue … sorry but I call bullshyt on that while I agree there are MUCH larger issues in regards to the gun violence in Chicago I am just saying it seems suspect he has not “addressed” this issue in his hometown and yeah I don’t know him *eye roll* BUT I am pretty sure if he DID FOX news surely would have “spun” the story…but then again a bunch of “niggas” are getting killed so just par the course right AMERIKKKA

It is TIME for HIM to start addressing issues in black America everything that look like us aint for us… just my PERSONAL OPINION

  8. SO ARE WE IMPLYING THE PRESIDENT DOESN’T CARE, BECAUSE IF SO, UNLESS YOU HAVE PERSONALLY ASKED HIM OR DISCUSSED IT WITH HIM, YOU REALLY DON’T KNOW HOW HE FEELS AT ALL, AND JUST BECAUSE HE HASN’T SPOKEN PUBLICLY ABOUT IT, DOESN’T EQUATE HIM NOT CARING-THAT’S A HASTY ASSUMPTION :wine:

  9. C’mon Tra,
The Obama shade is kinda unwarranted and distracting. I’m angry at the coward that killed this young lady. Obama didn’t pull the trigger. Nor will a phone call or national press conference change the fact this girl died.

  10. The only way the “officials” in Chicago are going to get their heads out of the Northside Chicago’s arse is for people to boycott the city. Don’t go into this warzone until someone gets the gumption to create, pass, and enforce meaningful legislation so that we don’t keep losing our future.

Decent, law-abiding Blacks are held hostage by punk ass niggers who don’t care about us. The only person that should be dead is the punk that pulled that trigger and any little wannabe thug that was in that group. All of that potential, beauty, and investment struck down by a deranged nigger with an illegal gun. 😥

  11. It’s ironic that this young girl would be killed by gun violence, especially with all the talk about guns these days. It makes me wonder if, young innocent, promising, people are victims to get these guns off the streets finally?

  13. The tragic death of this young girl has Rahm Emanuel calling for tougher gun laws even though Chicago has laws already on the books that are far stricter than what the government is purposing. When are the politicians going to admit that the criminals do not care about any laws? Damn shame 😥

  16. The president will not take some action because he is not takings responsibility for these actions that probably embarrass him. Politicians will not take responsibility because they do not get into office to wrestle with crimes of the underclass.

  17. This is a very tragic story and it hurts me to the core of my heart just looking at the face of that beautiful child, but I can’t quite call this chickens coming home to roost on Obama’s gun law like this article stated. It’s plain to see that the nature of the problem is the economy and it’s impact on black teens in particular.

  18. The young men who are doing these killings are ugly minded and selfishly sick, and most follow in the foot prints of their mostly jailed fathers.
