Kirk Cameron on homosexuality: “It’s detrimental, and ultimately destructive”

For those who may remember, Kirk Cameron is best known for his role as the lovable Mike Seaver on television’s “Growing Pains,”. Now Cameron is a 41-year-old father of 6, and a Born Again Christian. The actor recently appeared on the Piers Morgan show and was asked where he stands on various hot button social issues, including gay marriage and this is what the former child star actor had to say:

“Marriage is almost as old as dirt, and it was defined in the garden between Adam and Eve. One man, one woman for life till death do you part. So I would never attempt to try to redefine marriage. And I don’t think anyone else should either,” explains Cameron. “So do I support the idea of gay marriage? No, I don’t.”

In addition Cameron went on to explain his views on homosexuality. “I think that it’s – it’s – it’s unnatural. I think that it’s – it’s detrimental, and ultimately destructive to so many of the foundations of civilization.”

Kirk Cameron’s opinions are protected by the First Amendment of the United States Constitution and whether gays like it or not, he has the right to express them.

Afterall, man and women were ordained in marriage to procreate, and gay sex does not ensure that covenant with God.

homosexuality is not detrimental to anyone. Nor is it “un-natural” why do even lesser animals engage in homosexuality? Are they consciously choosing to goes against natural too?

According to his faith (if he is a true follower of Jesus Christ) then it is unnatural. Sodomy is unnatural and against the ways of God, Sodom and Gomorrah. I can give you scriptures starting with Leviticus 18:22.

I cannot believe that something I see as occurring naturally (meaning without having to make a conscious choice to do so) as inherently unnatural. 😦

      4. @yVONNE: Animals having gay sex sounds so ridiculous and we’re not animals. I have to agree with Kirk. God made man for woman and woman for man. It’s just logical. Sorry folks there is no getting around that…

      5. @POINT:

It’s not ridiculous. It’s scientific fact that many species of animals engage in homosexual sex. It’s a long list that includes penguins, lions, some primates including humans. We are, at base, just high functioning animals.

  7. This part of the interview reminds me of when Jesus was asked by Pontius Pilate “…are you king of the Jews ?” Akin to directly asking HIM “..are you Mashicach ?…” JESUS response was “…you have said so…”. Why of all responses did JESUS give that ? Well, Kirk, great job ! you made the point wisely without leaving doubt as to what the LORD requires of us.

    1. yEAH, Kirk was right when he said we all choose a moral standard whether it is defined or not. For an authentic Christian that standard is set by the teachings of Jesus and the scriptures. For others it may be their favorite author, a pop or political icon, or their favorite professor, etc. Christians who believe in moral absolutes like Kirk will see an increasing chasTISEment by those that oppose our moral standards and values.

  9. I just watched this interview that seems to have created so much controversy. In my opinion, as an open minded person, I did not see anything wrong with what Kirk Cameron had to say. I think it was highly rude of Piers Morgan to attack him with such questions when he knows that Kirk is an Evangelistic Christian. What did he really think he was suppose to say? Cameron: “I love God and believe in what the Bible says…but…I think it is okay and perfectly natural for men to be with men or women with women?” I mean come on…where does it say in the Bible that this is okay in God’s eyes? Christians use their Bibles as the words to live their lives by. It is their instructional manual.

  23. Why is God’s word now “controversial”? Kirk is only paraphrasing God’s word. The bible says that homosexuality is unnatural and marriage is honorable. This is God’s word. The world’s spin on it is what is controversial.

God’s word NEVER changes unless foolish MAN decides to add or take away from it. Kirk is not compromising like many people do, he is speaking the raw uncut word of truth.

Human nature will follow many other rules, like Traffic and Vehicle rules, etc. We do our best to stop at a stop sign or not run a red light because there are consequences, but obeying God’s word is a difficult one for many. The minute someone quotes instruction from God’s word people get offended and act all kindS of crazy.

One does not require the other to coexist. A man can love a boy without sleeping with him. A woman can love another woman without sleeping with her. The decision to have sex is just that — a decision. A decision requires a choice. Sex is not a mandatory requirement for love.
