Funeral Home Knows Who Took Photo of Whitney Houston in Casket

Funeral home owner Carolyn Whigham says she knows who took the photo of singer Whitney Houston that was displayed on the cover of the National Enquirer. Whingham, who has known the Houston family for decades, held a press conference yesterday in Newark, NJ, to clear her name.

“I want to clear my name and my funeral home,” said Whigham, who said she had received dozens of threatening emails and was also spit on following “false and unsubstantiated rumors.”

The photo showed Houston wearing a purple dress and resting in an open casket. It ran under the headline “Whitney: The Last Photo!” The issues captions declared Whitney was buried in $500,000 worth of her favorite jewels. The gossip rag sold out quickly, and some say the photo may have earned the photographer a quick $500K.

Whigham (pictured left) was the flamboyant figure at Whitney’s opulent funeral, wearing a gold jacket and white pants, in the live video feed from New Hope Baptist Church on Feb. 18.

She said the funeral home’s investigation revealed that the picture was taken on Feb. 17, a day before the homegoing services. Whigham said a security detail from Nippy Inc., the singer’s management company, was with the singer’s body around the clock while it was at Whigham.

Wingham is considering taking legal action.

  1. Trust me the funeral business is not hurting for money. As long as people are leaving this earth, funeral homes are going to make money so posting Whitney’s picture wouldn’t have made a big deal to them. Most funerals startt around $5000 and go up so I didn’t think they did that either.
Whitney’s estate is reportedly broke anyway. She took money from the 100 million dollar contract and now owes Sony so much money that she would have to sell 5 million records before Bobbi Christina even start seeing any money… It was the family…

  2. I definitely feel like it was someone in Whitney’s family but at the same time Mrs. Whigham seems quite narcissitic and shady.

  3. SMH…Wow….I understand why she would want to clear the funeral home’s name. I also believe the Houston family hasn’t taken any action because they just want to begin the healing process and not drag this on.

  13. I know who took the picture too. On the count of 3… 1—–2—–3. The daughter took the picture! She and Crissy was the only two people allowed in the room without security. However Bobbi is known for taking pictures and selling them to make money off of it! Who u think took the pictures of her possibly drinking that one time.

  15. It had to be someone involved with the arrangements. If you look at the “distance” picture – the one with the casket and the flowers on either side there it appears to have been taken before things got started.

  16. Carolyn Whigham is strictly professional in everything that she does and if she says that she didnt take the photos of Whitney Houston then you can take that to the bank. She would never jepordize her business for some money.

  17. It was obvious that someone with an “invitation” to the “private” viewing took the photo. One of her own entourage sold her out in the end… The truth will eventually come out.

Whitney was a beauty… so sad that she’s gone, way too soon! RIP Whitney!

  18. What a pathetic person to sell his or her soul to the devil! So disrespectful. I hope they release the person’s name.

  19. I bet you anything that one of her own relatives probably took the picture? I mean come on, it was private with no public access so who else was in there?

  20. Fairly obvious who took the photo. Security detail with Nippy Inc., Houston’s management company, was with her around the clock. After Whitney’s burial, security detail with Nippy Inc. is unemployed. Whitney has passed away, security no longer required. So, someone offers a half a million dollars to a person soon to be UNEMPLOYED. What do you think they are going to do?

  21. I do think it was a member of the family that took the picture and sold it to the Inquirer. I think the comment “It’s up to the Houston family to release the name” pretty much puts the family on notice that unless this rumor is debunked and the funeral home’s name cleared, the identity of the person that took the picture will eventually be revealed, with evidence.

I believe it is someone who is related! Notice the hint the director say, I’ll leave it up to Cissy to say who it is = a family member.

More than likely the jewelry was removed by the family prior to her being buried.

  23. This lady did the best thing. She passed the responsibility on to the Houstons to tell who the culprit was. That told the world it was their family that did it. I knew it all along anyway.

  24. Carolyn Whigham’s credibility is on the line. She may not own the funeral home anymore, but she is the face of the business and does not appear like she will tolerate her name being drug through the dirt as a scapegoat.

  25. It was the crack head brother and sister in law who did it. They no longer have a source of income due to Whitney’s death

  26. In other words she’s telling Cissy you better tell the damn truth and let the world know who took the pic (sons Michael or Gary both drug users) leaked the pic.
Either you tell the world or I (Whighams) will because y’all will not ruin what little rep we have left!!

  27. The HOUSTON’S leaked that shi.t themselves. Don’t be fooled. They (Houston’s) are a bunch of greedy money hungry drug addicts, and nobody did that but someone close in their family. Unfortunately that family is filled with drug addicts and alcoholics. Probably one of her own brothers did that shit

  28. The fact that she says it’s up to Cissy to disclose who leaked it let’s us further know it was someone from the family.

  29. I do not believe for one second that the funeral home leaked that photo. They have a business to run and knew the family too long to risk such a blow to the business. The family was so hell bent on securing the body they had guards there 24/7. So c’mon it’s common sense who did it.
