Various media outlets have reported that pop icon Whitney Houston drowned in the bathtub of her hotel suite at the Beverly Hilton Hotel after mixing a deadly cocktail of prescription drugs and alcohol. Houston is seen leaving her doctor’s office on Tuesday (Feb. 7) in the photo below.
According to gossip website TMZ.com, Houston, 48, was found unresponsive in the bathtub. Her stylist, hairdresser and two bodyguards were among the people in the room at the time. The entourage reportedly grew concerned when Houston didn’t emerge from the bathroom after an hour.
The hairdresser, a female, entered the bathroom and screamed when she saw Houston’s face under the water. A bodyguard ran in and pulled Houston’s lifeless body out of the tub. The source described Houston’s body position as “legs up” as if she slid down the back of the tub under the water.
Her body was reportedly “very cold” when she was pulled out of the tub. Paramedics were called to the room but they were unable to resuscitate the singer. She was pronounced dead at 6:55PM EST.
TMZ.com reports that bottles of prescription anti-anxiety drugs Lorazepam (Ativan), Valium, Xanax and a sleeping medication were found in the hotel room. It is believed that Houston had an adverse effect to the prescription drugs that were mixed with the alcohol already in her system after bingeing on alcohol for two nights in a row.
Houston’s daughter, Bobbi Kristina, 19, reportedly got into a screaming match with hotel security who barred her from Houston’s room. Bobbi and Houston’s cousin, singer Dionne Warwick, were eventually allowed into the room to see the body.
While Houston’s body lay in her hotel suite, Davis and other celebrities partied in the hotel’s ballroom downstairs. Many fans and critics have expressed anger at Davis for not canceling the party.

I’m sorry but Whitney Houston was a grown woman. How can Ray J drag her to parties? It was Grammy’s week….a week that she lived for so clearly she would have been at parties anyway. So, now I guess it’s all Ray J’s fault and Bobby Brown too for “introducing her to drug”. GTFOH. Let the woman rest in peace and stop trying to drag everyone else into it. It is disgusting that they continued to have this party in the very place that this woman died’ and still laid. Money ain’t sh** when it comes to people you say are your friends/family. They could have gathered in her memory but to party & cheese for the cameras is pathetic.

I’m not trying to be insentive but people are not going to stop doing things when someone dies. The only people worlds that stopped is her daughter and her moms. I hope Bobbie stopped and dropped his performance last night, but after I thought about it he got about 10 other kids he has to support.
I’m sure the mood inside was a bit somber.
I have many memories of Whitney and how her songs realate to milestones in my life, but folks gotta keep pushing and moving forward.

Maybe he did, and maybe he didn’t. What is very apparent is how quickly she went from the poised and regal superstar she was known as, to the irratic and dishelveled icon she became once she got with him.
The most TRAGIC thing to me; however, is how he whored her around for his reality show. The woman was tragically doped up and done for, but he wanted the “show” to go on, and to make money from it.
He knew nobody was going to watch a reality show with just him by himself.

I don’t agree. I’ve heard some things about her before him. Even Johnny mentioned something about that on their VH1 behind the music about how everyone thought she was this American Princess in the public eye, but for the people who knew her personally, that hood Newark side was out. It’s just the internet and TMZ wasn’t around back then to be all up in your business and she kept hers low key, whereas Bobby was out there with his.
And as far as that reality show, I thought it was just the opposite. It was her that was clingin to him and was always trying to be around. I remember he tried to get a break and take an all male camping trip, and she raided that. I think they were two of a kind, the only difference was how they was marketed. He was marketed as a bad boy, and she as a good girl.

True! Whitney never had any of those problems when she was with her personal assistant/lover, Robyn (or whatever her name was). I’ll never forget when her lover and Bobby got into a fight over Whitney and Whitney chose Bobby over her. That was the beginning of the end for Whitney.

To me, that show only proved how normal they are as a family. It showed to me that Bobby wasn’t as bad as we all thought he was, that he was a loving father who loves his kids and his family to death and wants to provide for them, but he has his issues in life that interferes every now and then. They are no different than the rest of us, their issues are just televised.

Prayers to Bobby Kris..I have been there…After my mother was killed and the cops informed me,they also had paramedics come out..So maybe that’s standard procedure or maybe this poor baby has had a complete breakdown and the family thought it was best for her to be hospitalized..I know the pain this baby is feeling and I know all to well the thoughts going thru her head,I pray to God that she didn’t do any harm to herself and that this was just a precaution…I also pray that her father is there or on his way there to her..it doesn’t matter who got who addiced to drugs or when..what matters is that this beautiful woman is dead and this man loved her and from this love that little girl was created and all the speculation and talking of Whitney’s past is of no help to that child..Let her remember her mother for what she was..a talented beautiful woman who had a gift from God…

Whitney Houston had the voice of angel and grew up in Newark, NJ. She was a Stylish and Classy on surface, but kept it hood when it was necessary, which is why her and Bobbie got along so well.

From what I understand, there were in the middle of the show and Bobby decided to finish it out. I’m sure tour managers lined up the next available flight and and I assume as soon as the show ended, he flew to be with his daughter. I don’t fault him for doing that at all.
It would be different if he had gotten the news before the show and decided to continue, but that’s not what I understand to happen.

Tabatha: Yes, they definitely give you warnings about mixing drugs with alcohol and with other drugs in the same class of drugs. They also warn about operating heavy machinery, driving, etc., while taking sedatives and antianxiety meds. The warnings are often ignored.

Its all sad, the demons people have are sometimes to strong to overcome and if you have *yes* people around you 24 hrs a day then they become your demons. Whitney was alot of people’s meal ticket so they would never tell her no, she was a drug addict and no one could make her do anything she did it because she wanted to. She said it best, she was her worst enemy. Anybody that watched Being Bobby Brown saw what kind of destructive life she was leading.
