“Georgia Has Blood On It’s Hands” For Killing Troy Davis!

So says TV judge, Greg Mathis in speaking about the execution of Troy Davis.

Davis, 42, was put to death by lethal injection on Wednesday at Georgia’s Diagnostic and Statistics prison for the shooting death of Savannah police Officer Mark MacPhail.

Judge Mathis offered his opinions about the case from the set of his television show.

“Despite the overwhelming doubt surrounding his guilt, Davis never received a new trial and was unjustly put to death by a lethal injection.” said Mathis, who added that Georgia had “blood on its hands” for executing Troy Davis.

  2. I really wish I could jump on the bandwagon with this one: but troy was not only present at both of the shootings, he also had more than enough time and space to ditch the murder weapon. He could have dumped it while hiding out in the back of his sisters car. I don’t understand why he ran in the first place.. I mean, the other dudes that were there didn’t run, And his own friend is the one who told the police what happened. If he didn’t do it, he must’ve known who did.. being that he was there at the time of both shooting… that has to be the weirdest coincidence in the history of coincidences-

    I dont favor the death penalty, but hey, I dont make the rules either. May he finally RIP

      2. it’s all about what you can prove in court. The witnesses can say ALL DAY that they were forced to make statements and lie but IF THEY DON”T GET THEIR ASSES BACK IN THE COURT ROOM AND SAY THAT then it doesn’t even matter. They were willing to lie and put a man on death row but weren’t willing to stand up and testify in the new trial? Ok…

  8. I don’t know if he did it or not BUUUTTT if GA favors execution why was Samuel David Crowe’s sentence commuted to life in prison hours before he was scheduled to die Thursday? Now this man takes full responsibility for his crime and he murdered a store manager of a lumber company. What is the difference? Both convicted of murder both scheduled to die but one is given a pardon. Again I’m not saying Davis is innocent or not I’m saying one admits to guilty has his life spared the other was tryin to prove innocence and killed. Something doesn’t smell right if you ask me, JMO.

      Georgia knew exactly what they were doing when they spared this mans life! They made it clear, because you admitted your role and have shown remorse we will spare your life! Mr. Davis since you are still adamant that you didn’t kill that officer and we believe that you are in fact guilty, you will be punished by death!! They wanted Troy to admitt his guilt and he wouldn’t!!!

        There is noway I would have something attached to my name that I didn’t rightful do. That is why everyone knows if you wit me and do some dirt you will be the only one walking around dirty cause I will sing like Anita Baker.

      I believe Troy was protecting the one who did the actual shooting. he never snitched on that person.

        right! I sure hope troy didnt die tryna be a “loyal friend” cuz cole surely wasnt.. he was the one who initially told, which is suspect to me in itself

  10. UGH…so over this topic. The only thing I took from this entire case was that being in the wrong place can land you on death row, watch who you hang with, and racism is alive and well.

  11. You’d have had to live in Savannah during that time and know how they operate to understand! If it wasn’t Troy somebody black was going to pay for that murder! They granted him a new trial IF he could show there was NEW evidence and his lawyers were unable to do so!! However the balistic specialist could not 100% confirm that the same gun was used to shoot both the homeless guy & McPhail although the bullets from both scenes were a match!

    The moral of the story is not rather he was guilty or not, it was the fact that he didn’t recieve a fair trial in the beginning! if 9 people got together and corroborated a story against you, you wouldn’t be so quick to say guilty~ case closed! I sympathize with all parties involved because no one was a winner in this ordeal! Killing Troy did not bring back the cop or lessen his mother’s pain!

    1. Zion, people keep saying that Killing him won’t bring the officer back but Killing any inmate on death row won’t bring someone back. No one is out there marching for them. No one is signing petitions for them. If you’re against the death penalty don’t just get enraged when you feel there is injustice. Stand against it EVERY time. 35 people were executed this year but no one cared about the other 34 I guess…

  12. Whether he was guilty or not, he spent 20 years in prison. He spent 20 years behind bars awaiting to be killed. That in itself is punishment. Imagine if you were sitting in a cell day in and day out not knowing when the day would come that people would inject you with poison to kill you. That’s punishment. Our judicial system sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I’m tired of people playing God. Guilty or not…. eye for an eye is never the way to go.

    They could’ve just let him rot in jail! But they waited 20 years and then executed him! Our country and system is sad and sets less fortunate people up for failure…….. GUILTY OR NOT GEORGIA WAS NOT GOD and HE SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN KILLED!

  13. I’ve posted many exhaustive comments on this subject. Bottom line is humans are imperfect, the government is imperfect since humans run it. The only way to guarantee no innocent person gets executed is to not have executions period. The same night Troy Davis was killed, the state of Texas put to death Lawrence Brewer who was convicted in the racially motivated dragging death of James Byrd Jr. There was no doubt of his guilt and he said he didn’t regret what he did. If we want to keep the death penalty available for such as he then we will have to accept that at some point in the past of future an innocent person has been or will be executed.

  14. Troy Davis never received a new trial. He died fighting for that to happen. The Supreme Court did order to lower courts to look at his case and placed a very high burden on Troy to prove his innocence which he was unable to do. But no new trial was ever granted in this case.

  18. I am a Christian and for a long time I believed in the death penalty. I do not at this stage of my life, because it does not work. It does not deter crime. For all of you Christians…read Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount. His greatest of all sermons where He tells us that at one time it use to be an eye for eye, but no more. If a man steals your shirt, wrap up your best shirt and give it to him as a gift. (I am only para-phrasing) I believe Jesus is talking about making ourselves better and helping to raise others up to a better way to live. We can’t do that by killing each other, generating more hatred and distrust.

    I pray everyone involved in this case finds the peace to go on in their lives. That they can take something so tragic, on all sides, and turn it into something positive that will benefit future generations to come.

    1. The story of Troy Davis has been around for over 20 years. It has gained more attention in the past years due to Mr. Davis’ family who would never give up his fight and his fierce & loyal friends and supporters all around the world who rallied so very hard for him. I pray he didn’t die in vain.

  20. I sincerelly would like to “thank” those ceo family members who joined me in prayer for Troy Davis last Wednesday. Let’s fight the good fight of faith knowing he didn’t die in vain.
