“R.I.P. R&B Singer Vesta Williams”

R&B singer Vesta Williams, 53, perhaps best-known for her 1980s hits “Don’t Blow A Good Thing” and “Congratulations,” has been found dead of a possible drug overdose in a Southern California hotel room.

A Los Angeles County coroner’s Capt. John Kades (KAY’-dihs) says Williams was found dead at 6:15 p.m. Thursday in an El Segundo hotel room but Kades says it will take six weeks to complete a toxicology examination to learn the exact cause of death.

By request: Here’s Vesta’s video and song “Congratulations”

  1. Oh no, this is some sad news!!! Vesta was one of my favorite old school singers. Tra please keep us posted on any more info you get on her passing I just hate that she was so young and I hope it was drugs or foul play because Lord knows people nowadays don’t die of old age and that’s sad!

  2. Heartbreaking, such a talented woman, never got her proper applause 😦 I hope it was not anything other than natural, though at 53, so young. RIP Ms. Williams and peace to your family and friends. Much respect.

As far as I knew she had bypass some years back though…back in her day it was about talent and not about looks or who could drop it faster or harder

No ma’am, she lost her weight the hard old fashion way, through diet and exercise and has been able to keep it off all these years. Her hard work paid off.

YES, IT WAS AS MUCH SHOCKING AS SAD, WHAT A GRACIOUS SINGER. UNFORTUNATELY PHYLLIS HAD OTHER TRAGEDY’S IN HER LIFE, BEFORE SHE TOTALLY CRASHED. THEY SAY SHE SUFFERED FROM BI-POLARISM.

YOU KNOW WHAT, MS. HYMAN WAS VERY LONELY, AND I THINK SHE JUST FELT NO MAN WOULD LOVE HER BECAUSE OF HER SIZE, SHE CONSTANTLY TALKED ABOUT THAT.

REMEMBER THAT BAD A$$ SONG, “LIVING ALL ALONE”, WELL THAT WAS VERY REAL.
