“Eddie Long May Go To Trial – He’ll Need 5 More Rocks”

According to news reports the good Bishop Eddie Long’s case may be going to trial after all.

At first all parties involved, were close to a successful settlement but the Judge in the case said he is now preparing for a trial. Judge Johnny Panos didn’t say why the mediation isn’t working, but he revealed that he could start hearing testimony in the fall.

Bishop Eddie Long is being sued by four former members of his New Birth “Missionary” Baptist Church congregation and his “Long Fellow Academy”, who say the Bishop used his power to coerce them into sexual relationships.

Just last month, during the week of Easter Judge Panos said the parties were close to a settlement, now he is telling WSBTV that he is preparing for a trial. The judge says if there is no settlement reached, a trial will begin in August or September.

  21. I personally think that the Bishop needs to be exposed for his acts, if they are true. If the Bishop is cutting a deal with these four young men, that is the same as admitting guilt. One of them should write a tell all book about the ordeal. In the settlement I hope there is not a gag order enforced on the four men. But most likely there probably will be.

      2. I don’t know if he’s guilty or not and Mediation/settlements don’t necessarily indicate anything. Sometimes it’s because people don’t want more dirt to come out. Sometimes it’s because it’s quicker and cheaper than a long battle in court and public perception. Any good settlement for a case like this will definitely include a confidentiality clause so the legal truth will never be known
