Last seen on December 28, 2010, the 16-year-old honor student went missing while visiting her half-sister in Baltimore, MD. Police pulled her naked body from the Susquehanna river on Wednesday, 35 miles south of Baltimore, MD.
Workers at the Conowingo Dam spotted Barnes’ body floating in the water around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday and notified state troopers in the area, according to Maryland State Police spokesman Greg Shipley. While investigators were still in the area, they discovered a second body floating three or four miles south of the dam a few hours later.
Barnes was identified via dental records however, police are uncertain as to the cause of death and a preliminary autopsy failed to determine a cause of death as well.
The discovery of Barnes’ body ends the search phase of the case and now begins the investigation into who killed her.

While the disparity of coverage in missing person cases is disturbing, far more disturbing is the constant stream of missing women and now the constant stream of bodies being found. What is wrong with people? How can someone abduct, hurt, and murder people? while you have these television shows and movies which focus on abduction, torture, and murder and there is no doubt in my mind that the obvious increase in these types of cases is, due in part, to the continual sensationalization of these events. Smh.

Also its pretty messed up when Facebook is a tool to reunite estranged families. The father bounced for years, has this other family, and the mom believes the girl should know her entire family. With that said a lot of these so called family and friends aint shyt! You got a lil sibling no way and hell should you be exposing her to whoever and whatever you do.
Also the father kept telling the older sister don’t speak to the girl’s mother, when she had questions. So Daddy deadbeat gets the side eye.

This chick is from North Carolina staying with family she hardly know in B-More. She knows nothing about city living nor has any street sense! The details of her murder are stomach turning. So sad to hear this stuff. Our community is in such great mourning right now. I think that we all hoped she would be found alive, we all grieve with them, you are not alone.
My heart breaks for Phylicia and her family. She was such a beautiful young women with so much potential. As a mother, I can not come close to imagining the sadness that her family is feeling. I pray for them all and that they find solice in the fact that Phylicia has been found and that she is being brought home.
I pray that the police are able to bring closure to this for them and figure out this tragic mystery.

I have been keeping up with this story and prayed she would return home safe I didn’t know her but I felt sad for her mom and something like this just hit close to home when they found a 19 yr old girl whom have been missing for three weeks after being abducted from her cousins house. They found her in a river in philly…. Its just sad how can ppl even stomach shit like this knowing they just messed up an entire family and community. I pray for both girls familys.
