All nonessential government services — including the processing of IRS refund checks – will cease at the stroke of midnight tonight. The government shutdown will throw millions of people out of work temporarily.
The budget talks between the White House and the Republicans have failed, and now the government shutdown that everyone is dreading looms large.
Troops who protect our homeland will not get paid; social security checks will not go out; libraries, museums, courthouses, city parks and recreational centers will all be shut down. The trickle down theory will go into effect as most major cities are cut off from government funding.
Americans are venting their frustration on networking websites. A facebook group is organizing an event to dump garbage on House Speaker John Beohner’s front lawn. Boehner is the Republican house speaker who is stuck in the middle of this mess.
In the meantime, Obama, 49, and his family will travel to Williamsburg, VA today to unwind and get in a little rest and relaxation.
The FAA has established a no-fly zone over Williamsburg that will remain in effect until the Obamas leave for DC on Monday.

The Democrats have compromised a lot on this spending bill. They’ve gone from no cuts for FY11 to billions. The problem is Republicans want to add policy riders to the budget and now is not the time. They need to pass the budget and argue these riders regarding Planned Parenthood later! They are gunning hard for the lower classes and minorities-we’ll be indentured servants around here soon. But I doubt that the Moderate Repubs want a shutdown. Boehner himself has already said that if we shutdown, it spells “DOOM” for the Republicans. And many of them who were against caving previously have already gone on record as saying: “we’ll just have to fight the policy battles later.”
