It looks like the impending government shutdown will indeed occur on Friday, April 8, if the White House and the GOP don’t resolve their budget dispute. The problem is U.S. President Barack Obama’s refusal to approve the budget cuts that the Republicans want.
The government shutdown won’t affect U.S. President Barack Obama or anyone in Congress because they will still get paid.
But it will affect thousands of good people who go to work every day in non-essential services such as parks, museums, etc.
In the meantime, the Democrats are blaming the Republicans for being stubborn and the Republicans are blaming the democrats for not comprising.
Cynthia Tucker, the esteemed syndicated political writer for the Atlanta Journal Constitution, says if the shutdown occurs, blame House Speaker John Boehner and the GOP — not Obama.
More specifically, she points the finger of blame at “the entire far right-wing of the Republican Party” for demanding more than the $33 billion in cuts handed to them by the Democrats.
In the meantime, black people will have to scramble to make ends meet while these political millionaires take their vacations and toil in the hot sun practicing their golf swings during the shutdown.
The 2012 election will be a mess, so please vote responsibly when you go to the polls.

The IRS will not process tax returns, the Small Administration will stop authorizing loans and federal home loan guarantees will cease. The Enviornmental Protection Agency will stop working on crucial energy related projects. U.S. troops in charge of protecting our country don’t get paid… This is ABSOLUTELY ridiculous!!!

Obama DID approve the cuts that the Repubs asked for. He even gave them an EXTRA almost $1 billion in cuts. The PROBLEM is that yesterday, when presented with the cuts that they asked for (and were given), Boehner decided that he would spring on them and ask for an ADDITIONAL $7 billion in cuts.
However- I’m willing to be he retracts that because hours after that meeting, Boehner was hard at work trying to get the Tea Party to see that asking for the extra 7 was pushing it, and that if a shutdown occurs- the Repubs have no SHOT in HELL of winning the next election.

His proposal:
– Cut Medicare substantially
– Cut Medicaid substantially
– Those over 55 on Medicaid would go from having to contribute 0% to their expenses to 60%.
– Cut taxes by 10% for the top earners in the country
– Raise taxes on the rest yearly until the deficit is smaller
– Drastically cut the Pell Grants program
– Eliminate the EPA
– Reduce fed staff by only hiring one new fed employee for every three who retire
– Require Fed workers to start having to contribute 6% of their own salary to their retirement instead of having it govt matched.
– Drastically reduce and or elminate many of the “social service” programs, first being the Food Stamp voucher program
– Privatize Medicaid

Hello All. How can anyone with just a little bit of common sense try to blame this mess on Obama? STUPID is what I call em, STUPID, with their heads stuck in the mud. How the fu@k can closing the federal govt, especially when govts around the world are faltering, how can it help our economy? (How will we look to the rest of the world?) There will definitely be a trickle down effect and others will suffer besides govt workers, especially here in DC. Those Tea Party Fu@kers make me sick. I just say a CNN pic of about 15 white male Republicans from the House of Rep, all relatively young(under 40) They actually looked like white thugs, like Nazis ready for the kill. Boehner is an alcoholic and his mama was half-black ( he doesn’t go to the tanning booth to look like a Cheeto).
I don’t see Boehner being Speaker next year because the last Continuing Resolution required the votes from a number of moderate Democrats to pass and now he wants to fluck it up by not compromising on $33 billion in cuts for this fiscal year alone.

Jan Schakowsky has the BEST proposal I’ve seen thus far for the 2012 budget that will reduce the country’s deficit by more almost 50% in 4 years.
